In philosophical terms, the approach in this meme might be called “solipsism” or “monism.” It is also the essence of the branch of Hinduism called “Advaita Vedanta.” Interestingly enough, if you replace the terms “life” and “consciousness” with “field” you get a pretty close approximation of what quantum physics has to say about what we call “reality.” In this scenario, everything we perceive as real is something of a dream or an illusion. As such, nothing is ever “created” or “destroyed.” Everything is simply “transformed.”
“But,” you might object, “there’s that word ‘consciousness.’ Such a word is not scientific as, from a scientific point of view, everything is material.” It is true that there is such a “materialistic” world view in the scientific community. However, in that scenario, there is a fundamental question that no one has been able to answer satisfactorily: “If all of reality is materialistic, how did the consciousness with which you are reading this–and with which you know you are reading this–arise?”
